Tear Gas in Iran

Information regarding Tear Gas used in Iran:
(with great thanks to ai- Medical Office London)

„…..Chlorobenzaldehyde oxime is an irritant. The nitrile won’t make much difference to this.
As for symptoms, riot control agents cause marked irritation of the eyes, nose, throat and lungs. So most of the symptoms as described -- ie dizziness, chest pain, severe headache, double vision and blurred vision, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, bloody vomiting, abdominal pain and increased oral secretions, nose, eyes and respiratory systems and severe muscle pains -- would be explained by exposure to irritants. Vomiting (including bloody vomiting) is not something common to these substances. Vomiting can be provoked by all sorts of circumstances and even exposures and violent vomiting could result in a bloody discharge. It is difficult to be precise here because the array of effects in any one individual are not described.
As for the claim that nerve agents have been mixed with the riot control agents this is unlikely for a variety or reasons. Firstly there are no deaths. The nerve agents are very potent and if released in an uncontrolled manner as from a gas grenade they would have caused some deaths because individuals near the point of release would be exposed to high concentrations. You would also have a range of symptoms which would be prolonged including marked respiratory distress only relieved by the use of the atropine.
He added that there is no evidence of which he was aware to suggest that Iran has chemical weapons other than agents allowed by international law for so called ‘law enforcement’ purposes.
But it would be helpful for precise descriptions of the effects in each and every individual to be listed.“
